Dr. Saleem
Pathologist at RHQ Hospital
As a child growing up in Skardu, I found my dreams of pursuing higher education to be like distant clouds in the vast sky. The lack of provisions for advanced studies in my hometown made the journey to university education an uphill battle, especially with the daunting expenses of tuition and accommodation in far-off urban areas.
Then came the turning point – the Marafie Foundation scholarship, a beacon of hope that illuminated the path to my dreams. With the weight of financial constraints lifted, I embarked on a journey of academic pursuit, specializing in pathology, the intricate art of diagnosing diseases through laboratory analysis.
The Marafie Foundation scholarship didn’t just fund my education; it sculpted my destiny, turning a once-distant dream into a vivid reality that continues to unfold with each passing day.

Looking back, without the support of Marafie Foundation, I would not have been able to train as a doctor. Opportunities for medical education did not exist in GB which was underdeveloped. Studying in the cities with medical colleges was too expensive for the average GB family like mine to afford. Luckily, when I was selected for the Marafie Foundation scholarship program, I was able to train as a doctor. Today, I am in a position to give back to my people due to effort and money invested in my future by Marafie Foundation.
The Marafie Foundation not only provided me with financial support but also opened the doors to a brighter future. Their commitment to education has not only transformed my life but has had a lasting impact on the underserved community I come from.

In the remote and less privileged community of my upbringing, the dream of pursuing a career in nursing felt like an unattainable beacon. My journey began in the heart of a small village where opportunities for education were scarce, especially for a profession like nursing. The Marafie Foundation, however, became the catalyst that transformed my aspirations into reality.
The Foundation’s scholarship program opened doors that I never thought possible. It provided not just financial support for my education but also mentorship and guidance that empowered me to navigate the challenges ahead.
Upon completing my nursing education, the Marafie Foundation continued to invest in my professional growth. With their support, I not only returned to my community but also took on the role of Director of the Nursing School.
Engr. Syed Akhtar Shah
Project Director, Kuwait Medical Complex
Growing up in GB which lacked provision for higher education, I faced a struggle in accessing university education in far off urban areas due to the high costs of tuition and hostel fees. Being awarded a Marafie Foundation scholarship for university education helped me to achieve my dream of training as an engineer and returning home to serve my community.
The Marafie Foundation scholarship not only alleviated the financial burden but also provided me with a platform to excel academically.
Armed with a solid education, I returned to my hometown, equipped to contribute to local development initiatives and inspire others to overcome educational barriers.
The transformative power of the scholarship has not only shaped my future but has also ignited a passion within me to advocate for accessible education in underserved communities.
