“Education and health are two critical areas…impacting individuals’ ability to break the poverty cycle. Limited access to quality education perpetuates inequality and hinders social mobility”

Advanced Medical Facilities

We conduct five medical camps annually, offering local patients access to essential surgeries such as post-burn grafting and cleft lip surgery (see pictures below). Our partnership with Jinnah Government Hospital/Allama Iqbal Medical College is integral to the success of these medical camps in Lahore. The collaborative effort with the hospital administration, formalized at the request of our foundation, has become a consistent and valued component of our healthcare program. Since 2000 until June 2023, over 800 specialized doctors have generously volunteered their expertise during these camps.

Marafie Hospital Mehdi Abad

With Skardu located at a distance of 60 Km over rough terrain, we have also established a well-equipped hospital in Mehdiabad with an experienced doctor and medical staff to address community health needs. Notably, this is the only health establishment in Kharmang valley with a clinical lab and x-ray as well as ultrasound facilities. Emergency treatment, diagnosis, and standard medical interventions across the board have become possible with the launch of this facility.

Dispensaries

As part of our efforts to improve healthcare access and provision in Baltistan, we have constructed 62 dispensaries in consultation with the local community and the health department. We have handed over most of the dispensaries to the Health Department in the twin districts of Baltistan, while some continue to run on a self-help basis. We have been successful in mobilizing local communities in the construction of the dispensaries and land donation, with the venture serving as a very successful model of public-private partnership in which all stakeholders including the Foundation, community, and the Health Department participate equally.

MCH Center Kondus Ghanchey

In Khaplu, the District Headquarter of Ganche, we observed a shortage of health facilities for women and children. Women and children suffered from many common ailments and had a higher mortality rate in serious cases than that recorded for men, as they could not travel for diagnosis and treatment elsewhere. The establishment of the MCH The Center in Khaplu changed this situation.

MCH Center Chutron Shigar

Our Mother Child Health Center at Chutron which provides medical cover for the remotest villages of Shigar valley has four staff members headed by a trained Lady Health Visitor (LHV). The services provided by this unit during the year 2019-21 are as under. Over the period of 2021-2023, not only did the MCC provide medical care to 1866 female, 2007 male patients, and 653 children but it also supervised the birth of 29 healthy babies. Almost 400 male patients also benefitted from the OPD services provided by the MCC.
